Fabulous exhibition collection of one of the best armor collections outside of Japan. This catalog is from 2011, and as the collection itself (traveling all over the world) is still expanding, it is likely that many pieces of the now enlarged collection are not yet in the catalog.
Superb catalog for what must have been an amazing exhibition in the National Gallery of Art, Washington. Includes more then 20 mostly famous and superb armours.
Very nice catalog published at the occasion of the ‘Art of Samurai: Selections from the Tokyo National Museum’ exhibition in The Bowers Museum in 2009. The exhibition featured 80 superb pieces, nicely illustrated in this catalog.
This is volume 5 of the illustrated catalogs of the National Museum of Japanese History, completely dedicated to their weapons collection. 603 items are illustrated in color, ranging from muromachi haramaki do, katana till western style 19th century pistols. Most pieces are Japanese, but not all. As there are many pieces, the pictures are rather small, but still nice. Beautiful book.
Fabulous book with many selected pieces from the 8,000 pieces in the Osaka Castle collection. The book, published to celebrate the centennial of the incorporation of Osaka as a city, is as it should be: bi-lingual, full with beautiful pictures and nice explanations. Not only many armours, but also many other samurai items, battle screens (with details) etc.
Beautiful exhibition catalog celebrating the 450th anniversary of the first Shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate, Tokugawa Ieyasu. Some of his famous armours, but also many other items from his household, documents etc.
